Connect to Claude or ChatGPT
Connect your Kraut lists to an AI assistant. You can then ask for your shopping list in the chat, add or check off items, and look up when and where you last bought something.
Kraut server address
https://mcp.kraut.net/mcpWhat you need
- A Kraut account (signed in, not as a guest)
- Claude with support for custom connectors (depends on your plan), or a ChatGPT account (plugin availability can depend on your plan, workspace and country)
Claude (web, desktop, mobile)
- In Claude, open Settings and go to Connectors.
- Choose "Add custom connector", enter "Kraut" as the name and the server address above as the URL.
- Click Connect, sign in to Kraut and allow access.
Claude Code
In your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http kraut https://mcp.kraut.net/mcpChatGPT
Open Kraut in ChatGPT's Plugins directory
- Open Kraut in ChatGPT's Plugins directory (link above), or search for "Kraut" under "Plugins" on chatgpt.com.
- Click "Install plugin", sign in to Kraut and allow access. If Kraut shows the wrong account, click "Use another account".
- Mention Kraut in a chat with @Kraut, for example "@Kraut Show me my shopping list".
Alternatively: add it as your own MCP app
- This needs ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu in the browser; the free plan cannot add custom MCP apps.
- On chatgpt.com, choose "Plugins" in the sidebar, click "Add" at the top right and choose "Create MCP App". If that option is missing, your account needs developer mode, which you turn on in ChatGPT's settings; in Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces an admin may have to allow it.
- Enter "Kraut" as the name, the server address above under "Connection", and OAuth as "Authentication". Tick "I understand and want to continue" and click "Create".
- Click "Continue to Kraut", sign in to Kraut and allow access.
Menu labels in Claude and ChatGPT may differ slightly.
Things to try
- "What's on my Today list?"
- "Show me my shopping list with photos."
- "Put milk and eggs on my shopping list."
- "When did I last buy coffee, and where?"
What the assistant can access
The assistant sees your lists, items and purchase history and, if you allow it, can add, remove and check off items. Before it gets access, Kraut shows you which assistant is connecting and asks for your approval.
Details are in our privacy policy (section 7.3).
Disconnecting
In the Kraut app under Profile › Connected AI apps, or in the assistant's settings.
