No! You can start using Kraut immediately without signing up. However, it is recommended to create an account if you want to sync across devices and to make sure your data isn't erased in case you reinstall the app.
In the app, press the blue [+] button and then the barcode icon. Simply point your camera at a product barcode. Kraut automatically identifies the product and adds it to your list with full details. In case the product is not found, you can add it manually by entering the product name, brand and photo.
